Silver Moon in Madison named Best Artisan Jewelry for 2016
Unique, different and one of a kind jewelry fills the cases at Silver Moon in Madison. Through the storefront’s large plate glass windows passersby can check out the tempting bracelets, earrings, necklaces, charms and pendants, many individually crafted in Arizona, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
When people walk in the door, Owner Nancy Lirot hopes they will be drawn to a specific piece of jewelry – that piece that will be perfect for them or the person they are purchasing it for. “I want them to find something unique,” says Lirot. “I want them to find something that they wouldn’t find at the mall, something that speaks to them.”
Lirot’s reputation for offering quality crafted jewelry has earned Silver Moon the ShoreLine Newspaper’s Best Artisan Jewelry this year.
“Silver Moon has a great collection of jewelry and there is always something different to choose from. I always find a great gift for family, a friend, or myself,” Jackie posted on www.silvermoonmadison.com.
Lirot says there is no one line that is more popular than another. She constantly keeps up with trends and her inventory reflects this. “I think that changes constantly” says Lirot. “Just like fashion, the times and what’s going on, so there’s never been a specific line that people will come in and say, ‘I have to have that.’”
When the store is open, Lirot is there. This is important to her and her business. “You know when you come in, you’re going to see me,” she says. “You know if you have a problem, you’re going to see me. That’s huge.”
Seeing her customers find just the right piece of jewelry is affirmation to Lirot that she is choosing the right inventory. “It’s wonderful, because you’re always nervous, am I bringing the right lines into the store, is anyone going to like this beside me?” says Lirot. “I can’t buy everything that just speaks to me,” she adds. “I have to find things that speak to everybody – different walks of life, different occasions, happy, sad. So you want all different kinds of things that will strike different moods and different events and different emotions.”
